Making plans to hit the road this winter in your new RV? Then you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared for the ice, snow, and freezing temperatures that are sure to come! For tips on how to prepare for a winter RV camping trip, and ensure your rig stays in working order no matter how cold it gets, check out our tips below.

Insulate Your Rv

Before you head out onto the open road, be sure to take some time to insulate your RV to ensure you stay toasty and warm when temperatures outside drop. We recommend purchasing weather stripping to place around your doors and windows, as well as some heavy curtains to trap heat and help insulate against the cold. We also advise giving your rig a quick inspection both inside and out to check for any cracks, holes, or gaps that need filling.

Protect Your Plumbing

To ensure you never go without fresh running water, be sure to prep your plumbing for the upcoming cold weather. We recommend purchasing some heat tape to wrap around your pipes, hoses, and waste valve when temperatures drop, as well as bringing along a heating pad or space heater to help keep important amenities—like your fresh water tank—warm. Before you leave, we strongly advise adding antifreeze to both your gray and black water tanks to keep them from freezing.
